Welcome to Ms. Soehnlin's 5th Grade Webpage
Hello, welcome to my classroom webpage. My name is Monica Soehnlin and I am one of the 5th grade teachers at Mason School of Academic and Cultural Literacy. I have been teaching in the St. Louis Public School District for 19 years. Over the years, I've taught 4th, 5th and 6th grade. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. When I'm not at school I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to festivials, watching Cardinal baseball and Do-It-Youself projects. It's a privilege to be your child's teacher and I look forward to getting to know all of you!
It is my belief that all children can learn. As a teacher, it is my goal to create a productive learning environment. I will: provide quality instruction that effectively meets the needs of diverse learners and reflects current knowledge of best teaching, learning, and assessment practices; build positive, trusting relationships among all members of the Mason community; engage students, families, and staff in the educational process; establish a safe, caring, and supportive community where respect, responsibility, kindness, and honesty are consistently valued and practiced; and encourage on-going growth through reflection, risk-taking, and goal-setting. I want each child to leave my classroom believing in themselves, and knowing that, with work, they can become achievers.
