Degrees and Certifications:
I am thrilled that your child is in my class this year and am very excited about getting started! This is my second year working at Hodgen Elementary and my first year teaching 6th grade.
A little bit about me: My name is Emily Brauer and my husband and I have two daughters, Max and Cora. We have lived in the St. Louis area for about 5 years. I received my Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Illinois University and am currently working towards my Master's Degree in Teaching and Learning from Washington University. Being a teacher is something I feel extremely passionate about. Your child has unique talents and strengths and I cannot wait to build on these this year. In this class, your child will be cared for, and their ideas and thoughts will be valued.
This year, we will be working together to build community and become a classroom family. The students and I will be spending a lot of time together, so it is important we treat each other with respect, kindness and compassion. During the first week of school, we will review our classroom core values: Inclusivity, Respect, Leadership and Accountability. In addition to our academic goals, these core values will be a part of our everyday classroom community and they will help to keep us to reach our goals.
I am a firm believer in keeping a strong, open line of communication between home and school. After all, we have something very important in common--your child! Because you know your child better than anyone, our partnership will be very important this year. I will provide weekly updates on Class Dojo. I love to have conversations with family members throughout the school year, so please always contact me with any questions or concerns.
