    Welcome to Alternative Education

As we look forward to the first day of school on Monday, August 21st there is much to be excited about in the Saint Louis Public School District.  Thanks to the hard work of our students and teachers, the District is making progress and on the right track.

St. Louis, Missouri, has several alternative high schools available to students with special needs and interests. According to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, St. Louis had about 13 students per teacher during the 2009 school year. Alternative high schools tend to have lower student-to-teacher ratios, usually less than 10-to-1, as well as services for students with special needs.

Our alternative schools standards are set to meet the District and State requirements, and the school and parents expectations. Our vision is to see the student learning, achieving, and successfully transitioning to one of SLPS middle or high schools. We are able to accomplish this through a highly qualified and dedicated staff, involved parents/guardians, and committed volunteers.
