Classroom Routines & Procedures
- Entering the room – Students will line up outside the classroom, facing forward, with ALL the required supplies with their voice silent. Students will receive instruction in the hall and then enter the classroom silently, sit in their assigned seat and begin Do Now.
- Exiting the classroom - When given directions, stand up quietly; push in your chair; take all necessary items and trash; line up without touching others or talking; silently face the front of the line; watch where you are going; throw away trash as you exit. Please remember the hall is a quiet area.
- Leaving the room – Get permission before leaving the room for any reason. If a student needs to leave the classroom, they will receive a signed hall pass. Any student found without a pass will receive a referral.
- Leaving your seat – Raise your hand and wait for permission before leaving your seat.
- Tardiness – You are late for class if you are not in line when the class enters the room. Excessive tardiness will result in a referral.
- Absences – It is the student’s responsibility to get ALL assignments they missed. Check with me for missed assignments in the last ten minutes of class.
- Cell Phones/Electronic Devices-Per district policy, cell phones are not permitted on school grounds. However, if a student brings their phone to school, they must turn the phone in to their 6th period teacher’s box as they walk through security. The phones will be retrieved by their teacher and be locked up until the end of the school day. If a student does not check their phone, and it is found during a security check, seen in class, the hall or anywhere throughout the school building, the phone will be confiscated and returned by administration on Fridays.
- Obtaining help with assignments – Raise your hand to get help from me during direct instruction. During independent or partner work, quietly ask your shoulder partner for help. The rule is “Ask 3 before me”. That means asking three of your peers for help before you ask me. Voices are expected to remain at a ‘1’ for partner work and a ‘2’ when in a small group setting. During assessments, students may not ask for assistance from peers and voices are to remain at ‘0’ until ALL test/quizzes are submitted. Talking during a test/quiz will result in an automatic zero and students may not retake the test/quiz.
- Handing in finished work/homework – Check to make sure your name (first and last name) is on your paper and then place the work in the assigned basket or submitted in TEAMS. Any work left on my desk or in any other area of the classroom will be thrown away. Additionally, students’ assignments will not be accepted through email.
- Restroom - Restroom breaks are before school, before and after RA (Period 2), and during lunch. Students may not leave the room the first and last ten minutes of class.
- Fire drill/other drills - Stop everything; stand up, push chairs in, and line up at the door quickly. Do not make any side trips; wait patiently, calmly, and quietly in your designated area in line outside until we are allowed to go inside; remain with your group while waiting. Student attendance will be taken.
