Welcome to Mann... Where Curiosity Meets Exploration!
Welcome to our 5th grade classroom! I look forward to seeing where curiosity and exploration take all of our students this year. Throughout our reading, math, science and social studies I hope to guide students in asking questions, exploring, and pushing themselves to learn and grow. I believe in giving students opportunities to explore and work together to make sense of the world around them.
About Mrs. Abernathy
I have been a teacher at Mann Elementary since 2003 and have loved watching our students grow. I am originally from Chicago and came to St. Louis to attend Saint Louis University. I went on to earn my Master's Degree in Educational Technology from Webster University where I have also taken numerous ESOL classes.
Outside of school, I like to spend my time outdoors as much as possible. Whenever I can, I go camping, head out to the park or explore St. Louis with my husband, my three children. I love to go running, hiking, camping, biking, and swimming. When I cannot be outside, I like to curl up with a good book. I have several favorite authors including Madeline L'Engle, Roald Dahl and John Grisham.
