• Welcome to Mann... Where Great Minds Grow!

Welcome to our 5th grade classroom!  I look forward to seeing the growth of all of our students this year.  While this year may be a little bit different, we will be working hard to cultivate creative, life-long learners.  I am one of the 5th grade homeroom teachers at Mann and have the opportunity to teach science and social studies to all of our 4th and 5th graders.  I love being able to guide our students in becoming innovators and scientists as well as learning about our country and history.  I believe in giving students opportunities to explore and work together to make sense of the world around them.

    About Mrs. Abernathy

I have been a teacher at Mann Elementary since 2003 and have loved watching our students grow. I am originally from Chicago and came to St. Louis to attend Saint Louis University.  I went on to earn my Master's Degree in Educational Technology from Webster University where I have also taken numerous ESOL classes.

Outside of school, I like to spend my time outdoors as much as possible. Whenever I can, I head out to the park or to explore St. Louis with my husband, my ten year old daughter, and my five year old son.  I love to go running, hiking, camping, biking, and swimming. When I cannot be outside, I like to curl up with a good book.  I have several favorite authors including Madeline L'Engle, Roald Dahl and John Grisham.

In addition to this webpage we will be using Microsoft Teams and ClassDojo to share information.  If you need login information for either please contact me.
