Mrs. Lanita Burnett
Greetings Meramec Families,
My name is Lanita Burnett, I am the Family & Community Specialist at Meramec Elementary. I was born and raised in Saint Louis, Missouri and received my K-12 education in the Saint Louis Public School district. I received my high school dipolma from Cleveland N.J.R.O.T.C in 1997. I completed my Bachelor's degree at Lindenwood University in 2013. I was hired on at Saint Louis Public Schools in 2018 where I started off as a preschool teacher's assistant and was promoted in 2021 to the Family & Community Specialist.
As the Family & Community Specialist I will serve as a school based intermediary contact for concerns by parents. I will be instrumental in efforts to improve parent involvement and build community partners that will aid in assisting parents with needs critical to helping students reach academic success and bridge the gaps between home, school, and the community. Not only that, but I will promote sharing power, including parents as full partners in the decisions affecting their children and families. More importantly I will aid in the understanding of the educational system, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, district, and school policies so that parents may become better advocates for their children's education. I value working with students and families, putting a smile on their faces, and helping them overcome difficult circumstances.
My vision is to provide a sustainable presence for collaboration and communication between parents, school, and the community. My mission is to cultivate activities that will encourage parents and the community to take an active role in the education of their children and our students. I will make every effort to assist our families with the available resources to accomplish their goals. I invite you join us to shape partnerships for successful solutions and strategies for our students.
I would like to say thank you to our Meramec parents/families and community partners. Parents, your ability to adapt and your dedication is commendable. To our community partners, thank you for your continuous support. I look forward to working with students and familes and having a safe and fantastic school year!
Family First,
Lanita Burnett
