    Hi Parents and Students,

I pray that you are all staying safe and healthy during this time of uncertainty with the widespread outbreak of Covid-19. As the district website indicates, there are several locations at various school sites to pick up free grab and go meals Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 pm. There are also academic enrichment packets that are going to be distributed there as well.  Please be mindful that as a parent you can pickup all items at one location if you have multiple students that attend different SLPS schools.

Carnahan students I love you all and I am hopeful that we will get another chance to celebrate life and achievements for the 2019-2020 school year!  You have shown so much improvement as the year has progressed.  I know you were excited to knock those test scores out of the park but we will have to wait to show our excellence next year!  Classes of 2020 know that you are in my heart and we are thinking of ways to celebrate you all!  Principal Griffin is blessed to have the opporunity everyday to serve you!

Remember our 3 goals during this time as they can help for consistency:

    • Attendance: Be available everyday for yourself and your family during these times.  During these times it is vital for us to support one another and be of assistance to your guardian/parent
    • Academics: See the district website https://www.slps.org/keeponlearning (under academics) for enrichment packets or pickup at a school site.  Remember this is not for a grade; it is to sharpen your skills.  More information is being created and provided for students in regards to instruction.  Please stay connected with the district website as well as Carnahan's website.
    • Character: Remember during this time it is important to make sure you are mindful of the videos, comments, and language you post online.  Please do not offend anyone during these difficult times on any social media platform and find creative ways to have fun.  More information coming on our website!

Be safe and make sure you are washing your hands daily and adhering to the COVID-19 Health Guidelines by CDC.

    Prayers and Blessings,

    Principal Jonathan Griffin

Announcements

  • Carnahan Family Class of 2020:

    We miss our Carnahan Family!!!

Carnahan Family and my Class of 2020 we are working on how we can celebrate our students. As we know this is a tough time and we are preparing ideas and ways we can still celebrate them. Please email and call if you have creative ideas for our students!

On Monday, March 23 we will be serving meals for students at 26 Saint Louis Public School sites to Saint Louis City students and families. The program serves bagged meals for breakfast and lunch, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to noon. The meals will be for any student, regardless of their school site (charter, public or private), and families will be able to collect food for the entire week if they choose. Please find the nearest location to your home out of those 26 schools and you can visit that site. No need to visit your child home school if the distance is far from your house. “Stay in Place” order issued by the city, county and Illinois DOES NOT prevent grab-and-go operations run by schools, as confirmed by these entities. We appreciate our Food Service Department, our vendor and our Student Support Services Department teams for leading this effort on behalf of public, private, parochial and charter schools.

    Academic Intervention:

Our number #1 priority at Carnahan is educating ALL of our students. While we know learning is an important aspect, safety of ALL is critical. As we are ensuring both our students and staff are safe, we are creating a system to allow our teachers to come and pick up essential items in regards to academics. We are currently working extensively with the district to ensure we get up and running online with more efficient ways of communication as it pertains to academics. Please be patient with us as we will be preparing instructional materials for your child and expect to hear back from us on April 6, 2020. While this process is taking place the district has provided instructional packets at the sites to pick up along with the bagged meals for all grad levels. If you would like to access the materials online please follow the link https://www.slps.org/keeponlearning to access. No assignments should be submitted online at this time nor should teachers be assigning graded materials. Everything is for enrichment purposes only. Grades are not to be issued at this time. More information will be forthcoming regarding the issue of grading. In addition, at the link above you will find information on the Charter Spectrum offer of 60 days of free Internet and Channel 9 is also televising lessons.

    Social distancing concern/Other additional support:

SLPS has developed a student and family help line to provide social work intervention, counseling and support. The District’s direct hotline for students and parents requiring social and emotional support is (314) 345-6900 or studentservices@slps.org.

    Medicine pickup:

Parents if you need to pickup medicine Please call (314) 437- 1814 to set an appointment to retrieve medicine. Parents must have identification and the name of the student’s medicine to pickup.
