Ms. Audrey Black

Hello!  My name is Audrey J. Black.  I am the Freshmen & Sophomore Guidance Counselor at Carnahan High School of the Future.  I have been a school counselor at ‘Carnahan’ ever since it opened its doors as Mel Carnahan Middle School in 2003.  Prior to this, I was a middle school teacher for 10 years.  Ask me about St. Louis Community College - Forest Park, Harris - Stowe State College, and UMSL. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Teacher Education from Harris Stowe State College, (now University) and a Masters of Education in School Counseling from the University of Missouri - St. Louis (UMSL).   I attended Westside M.B. Church in St. Louis, MO for 21 years.  As an active member, I performed in plays and skits as part of the Theater Ministry and I was a Children's Wednesday Night Bible Study Teacher.  In September of 2019, I was cast in Shakespeare in the Streets play, "Love at the River's Edge".  I am a mother of four, and I believe in Jesus Christ.  In my spare time, I enjoy swimming, peaceful and relaxation activities, traveling, reading, spending time with family and close friends, taking walks, and boxing. I am a volunteer in the City of Pine Lawn and an Advisory Board Member with Young Voices With Action, Inc.  Students, as your high school counselor, I pledge to do everything within my scope of practice to help you and your family achieve the goals needed for your success. My educational motto is: Education is like a 3-legged stool; if one leg is missing, the stool will fall.  The same is true with your education which involves you, your caregivers, and me.  If one of us is missing, your education will crumble. I'm going to do my part to make sure this doesn't happen on my account. If you have a question, please do not hesitate to ask, and if I don’t know the answer, I will work to find it.  Thank you.
