Mr. Cody Filben

Hello!

My name is Coach Filben, and I am excited about beginning Year 2 here at Mallinckrodt Academy as the Physical Education/Health teacher!

A little about me:

I was born in St. Louis and graduated from Lindbergh High School. During my time there, I was a 4-year member of the Spirit of St. Louis Marching Band. From there, I thought I wanted to pursue a career in pharmacy, but realized that preventing health conditions and diseases was more of my passion, so I left pharmacy school to obtain a degree in Exercise Science at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville instead. After several months of working as a trainer, I decided to work towards and complete a Master of Science in Nutrition and Human Performance degree from Logan University. After several successful years working at Gold's Gym, COVID shut down the gym permanently, and I decided to make a switch to education by working for a Master of Arts in Teaching degree at Missouri Baptist University, which I completed in December 2022.

I am passionate about helping others learn more about all things health and fitness and cannot wait to continue working with these amazing students! In my free time, I have trained for and completed 3 half-marathons and currently enjoy running 5ks, 10ks, and other random distances throughout the year for fun. I also enjoy lifting weights and playing recreational Ultimate Frisbee, Futsal, sand volleyball, and kickball through different organizations in the area.

Helping your student develop an appreciation for physical activity and working well with others is my mission!
