Greetings, Metro Students and Families!
On behalf of the Metro Team, we look forward to welcoming our new families and reconnecting with our returning families.
I am thrilled to kick off my fourth year at Metro Academic and Classical High School. As principal, I am extremely passionate about honoring the rich legacy established by our visionary founder, Betty McNeal Wheeler. It is my goal to not only preserve the tradition of excellence that defines Metro today but also to foster a vibrant school community that continues to thrive.
My commitment to education is firmly rooted in the belief that we must cultivate a culture where diversity, equity, and inclusion are not just concepts but lived experiences. I am deeply dedicated to ensuring that ALL members of the Metro school community feel seen, heard, valued, know that they matter, and most importantly, know that they belong.
We have so much to celebrate! Metro has been recognized as a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School and earned Platinum status on the 2024 AP School Honor Roll—incredible honors that speak volumes about the strength of our rigorous academic program and the unwavering dedication of our students and staff. These achievements inspire us to keep pushing forward!
This year, we remain fully committed to impactful initiatives like our school-wide community service days and the Metro Learning Academy on Saturdays, which reflect our belief in learning that extends beyond the classroom.
And we’re not stopping there—we have expanded our course offerings to give students even more opportunities to explore their passions and grow intellectually. We’re especially excited to introduce Drama and Vocal Ensemble to the curriculum—new outlets for creativity, confidence, and self-expression. We cannot wait to see what our amazing students will accomplish next!
We are excited to welcome several new faces to the Metro team this school year! Please extend a warm welcome to Ms. Renee Burton, our new IB Coordinator; Mr. Riley Cameron, Music; Mr. Daniel Evans, Book Clerk; Ms. Isabella Fassi, Spanish; Mr. Jabari Harris, Physical Education; Mr. Anthony Henderson, Counselor and Ms. Kayla “Teddy” Martin, Administrative Assistant. We look forward to the energy and expertise they will bring to our school community!
Important First Day Reminders: Upon arrival at school, please use Door 2 (gym door) located by the picnic benches. Door 2 is our new location for the morning intake process. All electronic devices MUST be kept in your backpack after the intake process until they are collected in each class. (Please see the attached Electronic Communication Device Policy for Metro)
The Metro Team is unwaveringly committed to delivering an exceptional academic experience and partnering with you to ensure every student thrives. We cannot wait to welcome students back on August 18, 2025. Let’s make this year unforgettable—and build a Metro where every voice is heard and every person is celebrated!
