I completed my Masters in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood emphasis in the summer of 2016. The 2019-2020 school year will be my tenth year teaching kindergarten. I taught in a pre-k classroom at The Goddard School prior to this. I'm currently working toward my certification for Teaching English as a Second Language. Teaching in an early childhood setting is my passion, and I hope continue working with young learners for many years to come!Philosophy of Education:
I am committed to creating a positive learning environment where young learners can thrive. It is no secret that one of the keys to a successful classroom is respect – respect among students, teachers, and other adults in the building. I will lead by example and make sure that students are treated with respect at all times when they are under my care. I believe that character education is of vital importance in classrooms. If students are in an environment where love and compassion and modeled and expected among each other, the positive environment will be reflected in their growth.
As a teacher of young children, I am responsible for implementing a rigorous, engaging curriculum that allows for high success rates among students. I will hold myself to high standards in lesson planning, creating and fostering relationships within the school and community, and constantly improving as a professional educator. I will hold my students to these same high standards when it comes to their effort in my classroom. All in all, it is a joint effort among parents, teachers, staff, and the community that will create a smooth running classroom where students love to learn.
A Glimpse Into Our School Year:If you look into our classroom, you will see children actively engaged in their work. They will be doing important and meaningful work in partnerships, small groups, independently, and as a whole group. You will see the use of research based strategies that are proven to help children learn and grow at their own pace. You will see me working with children on their level. I believe that it is extremely important to meet children where they are to help them grow as individuals.
