I was born on an Air Force base in Okinawa, Japan (Thank you for your service, Dad!). My family settled in Michigan after his service time. I graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in mathematics, then spent two years in Sierra Leone, West Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer. It was there I discovered my passion for teaching. My 40+ years of teaching have been in the St. Louis area, my wife's hometown. I have been at CA since January 2014.
During my years at CA I have taught every level of math we offer, from Double Dose to AP Calculus. Currently my primary teaching load is at the senior level. My greatest joy in teaching is helping students lose the "I hate" of math, by making it understandable and approachable. I look forward to leading the next generation into the beauty and mystery of mathematics.
