Welcome to Cleveland.
Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education recognized Cleveland's Character Education (Promising Practice) in 2016, and named the school National Title I school in 2015. Newsweek selected Cleveland as one top performing high schools in America for 2014, and awarded a gold star for it's accomplishments. Cleveland is Accredited with Distinction by the state of Missouri for the second year. All this recongnition is the result of excellent teachers, a strong instructional program, and students who are willing to work hard every single day.
We are not an ROTC program; we are a military academy which means that our students are cadets from the moment they enter the building until they return home in the evening. Though we observe military customs, courtesies, and structure, we stress leadership. Our program provides opportunity for students to learn the principles of leadership and practice them as squad leaders, platoon commanders, company executive officers, company commanders, and members of Battalion Staff. Staff is selected based on character, academics, and demonstrated leadership. They wear gold ropes which are the most coveted status symbols in the school.
We have a strong academic program and a good selection of Advanced Placement courses as well as dual enrollment offerings. Almost all of our teachers have advanced degrees. Cleveland has a comprehensive athletic program offering a wide variety of girl’s and boy’s varsity sports. Our track team won 2nd place in State Championship last year, and is projected to take the title next spring. We also offer an excellent debate team (City Champions), an award-winning drill team and a concert band. Approximately 80% of our students remain after school daily to participate in extra-curricular activities.
Cleveland is a good place to go to school. 100% of our senior class graduates and has done so for almost a decade. 100% of our senior class applies to; are accepted by colleges; and are often recipients of scholarships. I hope that you will consider Cleveland as an option for your child.
