Celebrated author Coe Booth read from some of her works and spoke to students at Clyde C. Miller on May 6th in the Miller Library.  Booth has been praised for her narrative voice detailing the lives of young people in a challenging inner-city environment.  The author read a passage from her well-received debut, Tyrell, and its follow-up Bronxwood.  She also shared some anecdotes about her own life growing up in the Bronx and gave the students advice on following a dream of being a writer.  Afterwards, Ms. Booth signed copies of her book and socialized with the students while all enjoyed refreshments.

Ms. Booth visited Miller due to the tireless efforts of librarian Gerald Lyles, and with the cooperation of the St. Louis Public Library and its Youth Services Manager Carrie Dietz, who has been doing outreach at our school for several years.
