Biography:
I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. This will be my eleventh year at Dewey. I started at Dewey as the CSR teacher (Classroom Size Reduction) in 2012. Since that time, I have taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grades at Dewey.
My career as a teacher began in Orlando, Florida, where I graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1986. After graduation, I worked for 2 years in an elementary school in Kissimmee, Florida. I moved to Arkansas in 1990 and began teaching for the Fort Smith Public School District, where I taught for 19 1/2 years. During my teaching career, I have taught grades 1-6 and an "At Risk" class (where I worked with students with severe behavior issues). In 2006, I graduated with my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Arkansas Tech University. In 2012, my husband and I moved to St. Louis and I was blessed to be hired at Dewey.
My husband and I have 4 children. One girl and three boys ranging in age from 33 to 37. We have four grandchildren that (unfortunately) we do not get to see near enough. We also have two dogs that we adopted from a rescue center. They are brothers and are 7 years old. They keep us busy and are very spoiled.
During my free time I enjoy reading. My favorite genres are fiction and biographies, but I will read anything if the topic interests me. On the weekends, my husband and I enjoy working in the yard and on projects around the house. I also enjoy working 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles, and traveling (especially road trips).
My favorite colors are purple and green. My favorite food is Mexican and anything made of chocolate has to be good. I collect Precious Moments figurines, which I have been collecting since high school.
I hope this gives you a better idea of who I am. I look forward to meeting all of you and working together to give your child the best education possible.
