McKinley Wind Ensemble - Takes GOLD!

This week the 39-member McKinley Wind Ensemble traveled to Festival Disney in Orlando, FL to share their talents in a national competition. The band performed two selections, “Lincoln” and “Led Zeppelin”. We are so proud of their skills and tenacity. In addition to the Gold award that the Wind Ensemble earned, senior Jack Flanders and sophomore LJ Brady were also both honored for outstanding individual performances. You can see all of our McKinley bands live at this year's Spring Concerts on May 14th and 15th.

Revised McKinleyStudent ID Policy 
(effective 1/6/2025)

In an effort to enhance student safety and security and accurate attendance records, students are required to have an official and current ID in their possession and clearly visible.

Students' are invited to pick up a reprint of their current ID by making a request to our school librarian, Ms. King, via email to felicia.king@slps.org now through December 20, 2024.

Effective 1/6/2025, students will be expected to be in full compliance with our revised student ID policy, which is available by clicking HERE.

• Completed Magnet Application with McKinley selected as First or Second Choice 

Eighth Grade McKinley CJA Middle students must apply for the McKinley high school program and meet all requirements listed. 

• Copy of 6^th, 7^th and current 8^th grade report cards. 
• MINIMUM Acceptable Grade in all core classes (Math, English, Science, Social Studies) is a C, A and B grades preferred.  With a C grade, student must be proficient or advanced in Communications Arts and Mathematics MAP Scores, or 50^th percentile or higher on national normed standardized achievement test. 
• No out of school or in school suspensions one year prior to admission. In school suspensions may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.  

• 90% or higher attendance rate in the year prior to applying to McKinley. 
• Applicants must score at or above the 50th percentile level on a standardized test, and in all sub-areas of the test. 
• One teacher and one administrator letter of recommendation. McKinley 8^th graders only need to submit one teacher recommendation. 
• Administrative Admissions Interview for students which includes a writing prompt essay portion.
