Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!
I teach primarily 11th and 12th-grade students. From the class periods I have listed, I teach Anatomy and Physiology, AP Chemistry, and AP Biology. This is my SIXTH year teaching - all of which have been at McKinley and SLPS!!!
For my students and parents, please email me. It is the best, most efficient way to reach me. I do not have a phone in my room. My address is: jason.kesselring@slps.org
I assure you, I will respond promptly! I send communications via email to students and families about what to expect twice per month. Please respond if / when you have any questions.
As a former pediatrician, I bring a lot of practical knowledge about science (and a few other things!) to the classroom. One of the best parts about teaching is helping students realize that science isn't as complicated as they think. I think the beautiful thing about the subjects that I teach is that students can learn how to think broadly AND in a logical, ordered manner at the same time. Once students get the swing of it, the world really opens up - and that kind of approach is applicable to a great many things beyond science!
I am very active inside the classroom. No one has accused me of being "low on energy". As long as your student brings an honest effort and demonstrates a willingness to learn, I will be an advocate for your student. This can take the form of study sessions, career guidance, recommendation letters, or an adult that is just willing to listen. Science is important - but support, critical thinking, and growth are much more important to me.
I hope we have a fantastic year!!!

My wife (Sonia) and I have been married since June 2000. We have two children - an 18-year-old son (a Senior, oh no!) and a 15-year-old daughter (a sophomore). We have 2 pets - a 21-year-old rescue conure (I really, REALLY like birds), and a dog. Outside of the classroom, hobbies include hiking (go outside and play!), watching SOCCER (STL!!!!), and cooking.
