It's never been more important to learn about science! This year, students will not just learn science facts, but they will do scientific work to discover those facts on their own. Through science, my 6th graders will learn to read informational texts to gather information, and gain experience with analyzing data. The skills they develop this year in science class will help them in their future studies, and help them engage as citizens in our democracy.
Ms. Gund grew up in St. Louis, moved to California to earn a Bachelor's in Chemistry from Harvey Mudd College, and then returned to St. Louis to teach. She is currently working on a Master's Degree in Teaching and Learning from WashU.
When she is not teaching, Ms. Gund like to play with her cat Evie, explore neighborhoods in the city, and do crafts like knitting and embroidery. She is passionate about giving students engaging and rigorous experiences with science, and she is so excited to be teaching 6th grade!
