I teach because I am a storyteller.
I think in the simplest terms, that’s what teaching is: telling stories. Whether we’re underlining subjects and circling verbs (grammar rules!), or laughing our way throughRomeo & Juliet (that darn Nurse!), or discovering the Moors of Wuthering Heights (the romance!), we’re taking each topic page by page, letting the story unfold.
But there is also a very practical reason I teach. I believe strongly in the study of English Language Arts. I challenge you to find a career in which the skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening are not a job requirement. Everyone needs to master this art.
I am honored and blessed to be an educator at Central Visual & Performing Arts High School. The enthusiasm, talent, and acceptance at this school make it easy to have a mutual learning environment. I learn something new every day, and my students should say the same thing ;)
