Dance Department

  • The CVPA Dance Department, under the direction of Ray Parks, has become well known throughout the Midwest for being the “best public high school for dance”.  Students accepted into the CVPA Dance program receive training in a variety of dances from professional dancers and instructors. The CVPA Dance Department also has dance companies from all over the USA coming to CVPA as guest instructors and choreographers.  In addition, alumni who have made a career of dance, come back to guest instruct and lecture.

High school students wanting to begin a major in dance or plan to have a career in the dance field are encouraged to audition for St Louis’s longest-running, public high school’s, dance program at Central Visual & Performing Arts High School.
