Degrees and Certifications:
Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, I moved to St. Louis sixteen years ago. I am married and have three children. My oldest child graduated from college as a civil engineer; my second oldest child is in her last year of early childhood education, and wants to be a special education teacher; and my youngest daughter is in her sophomore year of biology and chemistry at a university in Iowa.
Raising my daughters gave the opportunity of switch my career from being a family and E.R. physician in my hometown, to education here in the USA, since it is my other passion, and currently I am a certified teacher in K-12 Spanish and 9-12 Biology.
I worked as a Spanish immersion teacher for 8 years, and I am very happy to be teaching Spanish at Roosevelt High School. Acquiring a foreign language provides students and young adults with advantages that will help them throughout their lifetime.
