New Leader Induction Mentor Program

  • The Saint Louis Public Schools New Leader Induction Principal Mentorship Program is a new leader support program that pairs veteran principals to serve as mentors to 1st and 2nd year principals. Mentors must have knowledge of mentoring skills, Interstate Leadership Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) Standards, Missouri Leader Standards, the Saint Louis Public Schools Performance-based Principal Evaluation Instrument, and the Saint Louis Public School Leader Framework Competencies.
     
    Mentorship Includes: 
    • One-to-one school visits
    • 40 hours of mentoring for the new school leader with no required out-of-building obligations during school hours for year one.
    • 26 hours of mentoring, six to eight hours of which will require the leader to be out of the building during school days for year two.
    • One-to-one coaching based on Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) standards, Missouri Leader Standards and Saint Louis Public School Leader Framework
    • One-to-one support on personal growth and development to meet the performance standards
    • One-to-one meetings at the discretion of the mentor/mentee as evidenced in contact log
    • Group sessions with mentor principal: one per semester

    Mentor Principal Criteria: 

    • Minimum of three years leadership experience
    • Proven record of forward progress in the Leadership Lever
    • Willingness to participate in district-level mentor training
    • Willingness to provide on-site support to the new principal leader
    • Approval by network superintendent
