Saint Louis Public Schools Celebrates Wilkinson Early Childhood Center’s Victory in 2024 Champions for Character
Saint Louis Public Schools is thrilled to announce that Wilkinson Early Childhood Center has been recognized as one of this year’s recipients of the prestigious Cardinals Care Champions for Character award. This accolade, bestowed by CharacterPlus® in partnership with the St. Louis Cardinals since 2004, honors local schools that demonstrate excellence in service learning.
Wilkinson’s selection highlights the school’s commitment to embedding service learning into the curriculum, ensuring that student voices are integral to decision-making, and fostering student leadership throughout projects. These initiatives are not only about meeting curricular standards but are vital in cultivating a sense of community and personal responsibility among students.
The Champions for Character award celebrates schools that transition from one-off community service events to sustained, schoolwide service learning projects that have a meaningful impact. Wilkinson Early Childhood Center excelled in demonstrating the connection between their service activities and educational goals, including significant student-led initiatives and reflective practices on the value and outcomes of their projects.
We are proud of the students and staff at Wilkinson for their dedication and hard work. Their efforts will be publicly honored at the Cardinals game on May 20, 2024, where they will receive recognition on the field, tickets to the game, and a commemorative banner.
This recognition is a testament to the ongoing support and dedication of our school community towards enhancing education through character development. Congratulations to everyone at Wilkinson Early Childhood Center on this remarkable achievement!
