Saint Louis Public Schools (SLPS) is beaming with pride as 30 of its schools have earned the esteemed title of "America's Healthiest Schools" by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. This annual award shines a spotlight on schools that go above and beyond to champion the health and wellness of their entire community – students, staff, and families alike.

Shining Stars: Five SLPS Schools Achieve "All-Star" Status

Reaching the pinnacle of this recognition, five SLPS schools – Ames Visual and Performing Arts Elementary, Humboldt Academy of Higher Learning, Mullanphy Investigative Center, Oak Hill Elementary, and Patrick Henry Downtown Academy – have been named "All-Star Schools." This exceptional honor is reserved for schools that excel across all nine topic areas assessed by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. An additional 25 SLPS schools were also recognized for their achievements in one or more of the topic areas. A full list of SLPS schools recognized can be found below.

A Testament to Dedication and Hard Work

"This recognition fills us with immense pride," said Dr. Millicent Borishade, Acting Superintendent of SLPS. "It's a direct reflection of the tireless efforts of our students, staff, and families to build healthier and more supportive school environments. We are deeply committed to prioritizing the physical, mental, and social-emotional well-being of every student, and this award validates the hard work happening in our schools every day."

Fostering Healthy Communities

These awards serve as a powerful reminder of the crucial role schools play in shaping healthy communities. SLPS remains dedicated to advancing equitable health initiatives across the district, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive.

The principals of the five All-Star schools and Leanne White, Director of Healthy Schools Initiatives, were honored at the September 10th Board of Education meeting.
