SLPS Announces Pettus Awards of Excellence

ST. LOUIS, MO. May 11, 2015 Saint Louis Public Schools and the St. Louis Public Schools Foundation has announced the winners of the 2014-15 school year Pettus Awards of Excellence. Eight top-quality counselors and one exemplary teacher from each SLPS school received the award.

This is the first year SLPS has honored school counselors with Pettus Awards of Excellence. Winning counselors must provide guidance in the lives of students and have the respect and admiration of students, parents and colleagues. Winning teachers must demonstrate teaching excellence and play an active role in creating a positive culture of learning in their school.

Each winner receives a $1,000 cash prize, a desktop plaque and a plaque to display at school. Funding is provided by the Pettus Foundation, a family foundation that has donated more than $40 million to charitable partners since it was established in 1965.
