Ms. M. Adams (DeGreeff)
At Gateway STEM High School, we are committed to providing a comprehensive, challenging, and community-focused education that prepares students for success in college, careers, and life. In special education, our mission is to support the educational, social, physical, and emotional growth of every student through a continuum of services and supports. We strive to help students learn in the least restrictive environment, develop independence, and prepare for fulfilling adult lives, whether that means post-secondary education, training, or meaningful employment.
Ms. Adams is passionate about creating a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive. She believes in helping students discover their strengths, build confidence, and reach their individual goals.
This is Ms. Adams’s 18th year as an educator. Over the past several years, she worked in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Division, helping students develop the academic, personal, and technical skills needed for college, careers, and life. Earlier in her career, she taught with Mizzou’s College of Education Outreach Program, assisting high school students in the St. Louis area with post-secondary planning, and began her teaching career with St. Louis Public Schools. In partnership with Washington University, she coordinated and taught a community work experience program for students with IEPs. Seeing students succeed both inside and outside of the classroom brings her great joy! Her work with young people also includes coaching cheerleading in both parochial and public high schools.
Ms. Adams’s family is from the Philippines, and she feels fortunate to visit them during the summers. St. Louis City born and raised, with part of her childhood spent in Kentucky, she occasionally slips in a “ya’ll.” She enjoys family life, dancing, karaoke, and learning the ukulele. Ms. Adams is a proud soccer mom to a very active and talkative little girl who is entering the fifth grade this school year.
