My name is Michael Gunter, and I am one of the Autism teachers here at Gateway STEM High School. I teach English, World of Work, and Career Exploration. This will be my 2nd full year at Gateway, as I started here in December of 2020 after moving from Texas to relocate for my wife's job. I have been married to my wife for 10 years, and we have 2 kids, 1 girl, Eveline, who is 6 and will be going into 1st grade this year, and 1 boy, who is 4 and is in pre-K. I graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas back in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Minor in Exercise Sports Science. I also attained a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M-Central Texas in 2011 and a Master of Education in Education Leadership (principal track) in 2016. This will be my 12th full year of teaching. Before coming to Gateway, I was a Life Skills teacher at South Belton Middle School in Belton, Texas, and I have taught a number of subjects in Special Education and General Education, including Resource English, World History, US History, and Texas History. I have also coached a number of sports, including football, baseball, basketball, and track. I was born in West Texas in Fort Stockton, raised in Belton, Texas, and I went to high school at Salado High School, both of which are located in Central Texas. I am very excited for another year at Gateway HS working with my awesome students, and we will have an amazing year! It is going to be a great year filled with lots learning and fun! I am available for questions and concerns via email at michael.gunter@slps.org.
