Ms. Jordan

Hi, my name is Sarah Jordan. As a graduate of Harris-Stowe State University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, it is my goal to work as a history teacher and work with fresh young minds. I not only want to teach history but use history as a tool to connect with students. It is my desire to nurture young minds by helping them understand the linkages in history, as well as the cause and effect of lessons we learn from the past.

As a teacher, I am committed to doing whatever I can to help my students learn and achieve their goals. I believe that creating and implementing great lesson plans will help every student better retain the subject matter. More importantly, I incorporate participatory activities, technology, guided practice, problem-based learning, and real-world applications to help students make progress and build on their skills. Through my short teaching experience thus far, I have found that facilitating rather than dictating is a highly beneficial style of teaching. I have learned that if students construct their own learning experiences, they will not only retain information longer, but they will also become more confident in their abilities.

I am so excited to be a part of the Gateway STEM family. Go Jags!
