Students at Gateway STEM and Ladue High Schools collaborated to create, pitch, and produce a Public Service Announcement in partnership with KSDK-TV.
During working lunches, students met in Gateway's Media Center and formed teams, developed ideas, designed graphics and storyboards, then traveled to Ladue's Broadcast Studio to polish and pitch their projects to KSDK's Bryce Moore, reporter Alex Fees, and editor Austin Muschamp. The professionals were so impressed they said it was hard to choose a winner and suggested that all be credited with specific contributions to the PSA production process.
The winning team included our own Maddi Evans and Kaliya Stewart who traveled to the KSDK studio to edit the final video. When complete, all participants were invited to KSDK for a watch party and a studio tour. The PSA will air during newscasts, Show Me St. Louis, and on the KSDK website this month.
Gateway’s FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics team competed in the Missouri/Kansas Championship on Saturday.
During the qualifying rounds we won 5 out of 6 matches and were in a 7 way tie for second place. Tiebreak points had us in 6th place at that point.
Alliance selection moved our team up to become the Captain of the Number 4 Alliance. Our team chose 13312 The Bombers from John Burroughs and 10265 Force Green a community team.
We fought hard but we ended up losing in the Semi-Finals. Our team finished 4th overall out of 36 teams.
During the awards ceremony our team was honored to receive the MOTIVATE AWARD.
The senior class of Fire Fighting and Law Enforcement Students recently attended a fieldtrip to St. Louis Police Headquarters, where they toured the 911 Dispatch Center, the Real Time Crime Lab, and the Police Academy. They pose in the gym with Officer Regiana Moore and Sgt. Stephen Perry and our very own Kenneth Moore.
Lieutenant Moore squares up against Alexus Jackson, as Daisheneh Perry looks on in the boxing ring at the Police Academy Gym.
