St. Louis Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Kelvin Adams and St. Louis College of Pharmacy President John A. Pieper collaborated to create the Middle School Summer Pharmacy Academy to expose McKinley students to the world of pharmacy in an effort to encourage careers in health and science.
In addition to participating in the experiments, the McKinley Classical Junior Academy students also took a field trip to the Missouri Botanical Gardens and toured Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
St. Louis College of Pharmacy Director of Diversity Freddie Wills was very impressed with the McKinley students. "I'm amazed at the level of intelligence these students possess," he said. "It was great to see young people learn about science while being introduced to pharmacy."
