SLPS Reports First Day Attendance
Attendance similar to first day numbers from previous year
ST. LOUIS, MO. August 12, 2013 – Today marked the first day of the 2013-2014 school year for kindergarten through 12th grade students in the St. Louis Public School District. Based on preliminary data, a total of 20,055 students attended classes today, compared to a first day attendance mark of 20,283 in 2012-2013.
“We experienced a very smooth first day of school throughout the District. The weather cooperated for the most part and our efforts to get the word out about the start of school seemed to have an impact. We were enrolling students today at several schools and will most likely continue to do so over the next few days,” said Dr. Kelvin Adams, Superintendent of Schools.
Today’s attendance figures do not include more than 2,000 preschool children. The first day of classes for SLPS students in preschool will be Monday, August 19. For more information, please contact the Office of Public Information (314) 345-2367.
