    SLPS Athletic Director Recognized by the Brain Injury Association of Missouri

    ST. LOUIS, MO., October 21, 2013 – Travis Brown, the director of athletics for St. Louis Public Schools, was recognized on Saturday for his extensive efforts of outreach and education to raise awareness of concussions and the Brain Injury Association of Missouri (BIA-MO).

    Mr. Brown was honored with the “Service Excellence Award – Public Relations” at the BIA-MO 9th Annual Statewide Conference Awards Luncheon and Annual Meeting held at the Embassy Suites – St. Charles. He is a former principal of Beaumont High School and has 15 years of coaching experience with St. Louis Public Schools.

    “It was a distinct honor for me to receive this award regarding concussion awareness,” said Mr. Brown. “Thankfully, more and more people are beginning to realize that concussions are serious injuries. Our schools, our communities, and all sectors of sports should be saturated with concussion awareness.”

    The Brain Injury Association of Missouri is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization. It provides support, education, recreation, referral services, and advocacy for persons with brain injury and their families, as well as professionals and the community.
