ST. LOUIS, MO, November 17, 2011 – St. Louis Public Schools is proud to announce a new partnership with Regions Bank that will bring financial literacy education to the District’s high school students by providing them with access to the EverFiTM Financial Literacy Platform. This web-based program uses the latest in new media technologies – video, animations, 3-D gaming, avatars, and social networking – to bring complex financial concepts to life for today’s digital generation. Through the EverFi platform, students will become certified in over 600 topics in financial education, allowing them to become more informed, responsible citizens. Regions Bank has united with EverFi, Inc. to bring the interactive financial management program to SLPS high school students at no cost to the District.
“In today’s trying economic times, it is imperative that our students learn the complexities of personal finances,” said Dr. Kelvin Adams, Superintendent of Schools. “We are extremely excited to have the support of Regions Bank and the EverFi program to provide our students with these necessary skills.”
The 10-unit course offers 6 hours of programming aimed at teaching, assessing and certifying students in a variety of financial topics including credit scores, insurance, credit cards, student loans, mortgages, taxes, stocks, savings, 401k’s and other critical concepts that map to national financial literacy standards. The platform uniquely tracks the progress and score of every student and provides students who successfully complete the course with Certification in Financial Literacy, a valuable mark of distinction on college applications and resumes."We feel it is important for us to help educate students so they are financially responsible young adults. With this program students will walk away with a solid foundation of personal finance and money management skills.” said Sally Roth, Area President for Regions Bank. For more information about the EverFiTM Financial Literacy Platform, please visit www.everfi.com.
