• ST. LOUIS, MO, August 15, 2011 – The 2011/12 school year started today for kindergarten through 12th grade students in the St. Louis Public School District.  A total of 18,397 students attended classes today, marking the second straight school year the District has reached or exceeded the 80% mark of projected enrollment for K-12 students on the first day of school.  This year’s projected enrollment for K-12 is 23,072 students.

     

    Today also marked the opening of Humboldt Academy of Higher Learning, an elementary school serving children in 3rd and 4th grade.  Humboldt will expand to include 5th graders in the 2012/13 school year.  Humboldt is a Magnet School created to offer a continuation of the Project Construct program offered at Stix and Wilkinson Early Childhood Centers, which each serve students in Preschool – 2nd grade.

     

    The Pamoja Preparatory Academy @ Cole also began with the ringing of the school bells today.  The Pamoja Preparatory Academy @ Cole is the District’s new African-centered school serving students in preschool – 7th grade.
