• December 2011 – The St. Louis Public School District has presented the 2011 Dorothy R. Moog Special Education Teacher of the Year Award to Ms. Maureen Moore from Stix Early Childhood Center.

A special education teacher with the District since 1976, Ms. Moore has given her students the skills and life experiences necessary for a successful future. Her teaching philosophy centers on consistent teaching and high behavior and academic expectations. Additionally, the concepts and skills taught in her class are broken down into smaller lessons to give her students ample time to learn.

Recommended by Ms. Diane Dymond, principal at Stix ECC, and Ms. Tonya Silvers, a fellow special education teacher, Ms. Maureen Moore stood out from her peers as an advocate for special education across the District.

As the 2011 Dorothy R. Moog Special Education Teacher of the Year Ms. Maureen Moore has been presented a check from the St. Louis Public Schools Foundation in the amount of $1,000. Ms. Moore has also received two plaques and a $500 certificate for professional development through the Parsons Blewett Memorial Fund.
